The "Emre Lake and Phrygian Civilization Garden Project" under construction in İhsaniye district of Afyonkarahisar aims to revive history, nature and sports tourism in the region.

The "Emre Lake and Phrygian Civilization Garden Project", which is under construction in İhsaniye district under the leadership of the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization and Afyonkarahisar Governorship, is expected to revive history, nature and sports tourism in the region when it starts to serve in 2021.

In the project built around Lake Emre in Döğer town, there will be an observation terrace, country garden, restaurant, sports fields and picnic areas where local and foreign tourists coming to the region can have a pleasant time. Construction and landscaping works in the project area have been in full swing for two months.

Afyonkarahisar Governor Gökmen Çiçek said that the Phrygian Valley has a history of 3 thousand years and that the historical monuments in the region are intertwined with villages.

Reminding that a large part of the 576-kilometer Phrygian road is located in Afyonkarahisar, Çiçek said, "We are determined to make the Phrygian Valley one of the most important tourism destinations in Turkey. We are locked in this project with the local people. Our constructions continue at full speed. Our work continues without a break. We will hopefully complete our investment project in the spring of 2021. We believe in this and we are excited about it. We are impatiently waiting for the completion of our constructions."

"Our city will make a name for itself like Cappadocia and Pamukkale"

Çiçek emphasized that the local people also embraced the investment project and that Phrygia would become an important tourism destination in Turkey in the near future.

Stating that the Phrygian Valley is a "magnificent" geography, Çiçek said, "Afyonkarahisar is the most important crossroads of Turkey. In addition to thermal and gastronomy, following the investment projects, our city will also make a name for itself in historical tourism like Cappadocia and Pamukkale. Our city will soon become a completely different tourism center. We are even taking steps for the promotion and marketing of Phrygia. We expect that there will be a significant increase in the number of domestic and foreign tourists in the region."

Salih Uslu, a local person, pointed out that the project is an example of an investment that will revitalize the region and that the people and tourists will benefit from it.

Local person Mustafa Gökaydınoğlu stated that the project will increase the tourism potential of Phrygia and the number of visitors.
